Churaumi Aquarium, Bise and Mt. Yaedake Tour

Churaumi Aquarium is one of the must-see destinations in Okinawa and Ocean Expo park offers a lot of alternatives, such as the Tropical Dream Center, The Oceanic Culture Museum and Planetarium, a traditional Okinawan village (and a decent buffer restaurant).

World-Class Aquarium and Rustic Streets

Churaumi Aquarium
View one of the world’s most impressive aquariums, watch a dolphin show and look at baby sea turtles up close. There is a lot to see and do at Churaumi Aquarium, can easily be a full-day trip on its own, especially combined with other attractions at Ocean Expo Park. This tour is for people who want to get the most out of their aquarium visit without being rushed.

Bise Fukugi Tree Streets
Stroll through peaceful, rustic laneways lined with fukugi trees and old stone walls. In the past, most Okinawan villages and hamlets, especially in coastal zones, planted fukugi trees for typhoon protection and shade. Walking these streets is like stepping back in time.

Mount Yaedake Peak
Stand atop the tallest peak in Okinawa and witness the spectacular panoramic view – perhaps the best in Okinawa. This is something we can do on the way back from Churaumi. This is open 24 hours and the night view is impressive.

Tour Notes

It might be best to visit Bise in the morning before the aquarium. It can be enjoyed in a bout 1.5 hours.

The stop at Mt. Yaedake is conditional on time. This tour, like all of Okinawa Heartbeat’s tours, is planned for 10 hours, with some flexibility. The last 500m or so of the road up the mountain is off limits to vehicles. It is paved and extremely safe, but very steep and not suitable for all participants.  The winds are strong and in the winter it can be very cold. Dress accordingly. We reserve the right to leave out this part of the tour if, in our judgment, our guests are not up to the steep walk or are not dressed for conditions.
